The BoneZone has been invited to represent the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music at Open House Melbourne. We will be playing in Government House and performing repertoire by Eric Ewazen. We will play three sets at 1:30, 2:20 and 3:10.
We will present Eric Ewazen's 'Myths and Legends' composed in 2001. The work is in four movements and is not programmatic, despite the title. The first movement is dramatic, playful and heroic. The 2nd movement is in an A-B-A form, with a pastoral chorale framing an extremely contrapuntal section of weaving lines. The 3rd movement is in a rapid waltz tempo, with the gestures swirling, sometimes gracefully, but more boldly and energetically. The 4th movement feels like an eastern European folk dance with its sense of momentum and accented syncopations. The movement culminates with a fugue on the main thematic material.
The BoneZone features: Kit Millais, John Marks, Kiran Samuel and James Littlewood.
