HOT SOCKS
Hot Socks play the pop hits you know and love in sock-wearing style and flair. With brassy boldness and percussion punch Hot Socks perform with vibrance and energy. Based in Melbourne, Australia, Hot Socks bring the great vibes for all your roving events inside or outside, hot or cold, they will get the music flowing. They can perform as an agile 3 piece group or expand to an impactful 10 piece powerhouse adjusting their setlist to your needs.
You may have seen Hot Socks cheering runners on at the Mother’s Day Classic, celebrating World Pride Day, welcoming students to the University of Melbourne, or bidding farewell to the first international travellers at Avalon Airport. In the past you may have seen the original Hot Socks Big Band’s first colourful socks step down at Dizzy’s Jazz Club in 2018 with a Valentine’s program to make hearts melt or perform a sell-out show at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival.
With musical style as colourful as their socks you are sure to have a hit with Hot Socks!
3MBS
In addition to performance, Kit presents on 3MBS Fine Music Melbourne, one of Melbourne’s leading community radio stations. He co-hosts Choral masterworks on sunday from 8-10pm and interviews guests as part of the reflections team.
When presenting Kit likes to share and promote the unusual and more personal facts about composers and compositions.
The latest quote Kit found interesting was about Dvorak’s Piano Concerto:
“Over this score might well be written ‘a warning to young composers. The piano passage-work sounds as if Dvořák had weighed out his ingredients fairly accurately, but mixed them with the heavy hand of an inexpert cook.’” - Alec Robertson (a British critic).
